The catalogue search process is described below.
If you know the author's name, type it into the search box and click on the down arrow next to "words or phrase". Select author from the drop down menu. All items in the catalogue by that author will be found. You can follow the same process when you are searching for a specific title - type in the title and select title from the drop down menu.

The "words or phrase" option in the Learning Commons catalogue searches for the keywords within the author, title, subject, contents and summary fields of the catalogue entry. If the word(s) appears anywhere in the record, it will appear in the results list.

A subject search differs from a words or phrase search. A subject search looks for subject headings assigned to items by a librarian. This could result in a limited but more precise results list.
