How do I know what type of search to undertake?
Whether you search by author, title, subject, series, periodical title or words or phrase will depend largely on the information that you already have.

If you have a reading list, you may want to look up resources by author or title to check where the resources are located and whether or not they are available.

A "words or phrase" search is good to use if you don't have specific resources to look for, but you want to start searching for general information about a topic.

When an item is purchased by the Learning Commons, the librarian will determine what the item is about and give it a series of subject headings. A subject search helps you to find relevant information about a specific subject.
