How do I know what type of search to undertake? |
Whether you search by author, title, subject, series, periodical title or words or phrase will depend largely on the information that you already have. |
If you have a reading list, you may want to look up resources by author or title to check where the resources are located and whether or not they are available.
A "words or phrase" search is good to use if you don't have specific resources to look for, but you want to start searching for general information about a topic.
When an item is purchased by the Learning Commons, the librarian will determine what the item is about and give it a series of subject headings. A subject search helps you to find relevant information about a specific subject.
